Carol-Ann Johnsson, Researching the DAVENPORT family all dates. the info I have is that the Davenport family had the Old Bake House there in the beginning of the 1900's. My grandfather was called Elijah Randolf Davenport and had a brother John Davenport - there is a John Davenport on the census list and he is listed as being a bakers assistant - the dates seem about right, but at this time I have nothing definite.

Malcolm Faulks, I am researching Charles FAULKS who was my great great great Grandfather. He was born in Moreton-in-Marsh about 1801 and was a Coal Merchant by trade, later I believe that he became the "Tollman" for the area. I do not know of his wife's maiden name but they did have the following children
Henry born 1827, Mary born 1819, Harriet born 1827, Elizabeth born 1829 & James born 1831. There may even be more offspring born within this period. I would be very grateful therefore if anyone may have come across Charles FAULKS or his ancestors in their searches, if so I would be very pleased to receive any information appertaining to this.

Trevor Betterton, researchinbg the BETTERTON family Moreton-in-Marsh, 1730 - 1800, including George BETTERTON, known to be a licenced victualler in Moreton in 1755 , was born at Bledington in 1713, died Moreton 1758. His will is dated 29 Aug 1758, proved 12 Oct 1758. He married Mary SHIRLEY at Hampnett 26 Feb 1749. They had six children: Richard Robbins bapt 13 Mar 1749, Robert bapt 6 Mar. 1752, George bapt 29 Mar 1754, John bapt 1 Jan 1756, James bapt 9 Apr 1758 and Mary bapt 1 Jan 1759, all Moreton. Mary was born after her father's death. George sold land at Bledington to Samuel Creswicke shortly before he died. George's wife Mary married Jonas CARR at Moreton 19 Mar 1762; they had 6 children. James, b 1757, married Jane LANCHBURY in 1784 and died at Upper Slaughter Jul 1846.

Pamela Hambrook,Is anyone researching NASH. I am looking for the first name of Susanna Mills' husband ? Nash ? Susanna Mills was born in Aston Blank, Glos. ? Nash. they had a son James born in 1850 in Moreton in Marsh. Susanna Mills b. 1823 I find Susanna and James on the 1851Census but without ? Nash. He must be still alive in 1851 as she is registered as Marr; or was he dead? Any one got any ideas?

Sue Cooke, I am the great granddaughter of Ellen WEBB, born 1871.Ê She was a daughter of George WEBB and Mary (nee BIGGERSTAFF).Ê I know everything about her descendants, as she had only two children, one of whom had no children, my grandmother just one - my father.

Guy Tidmarsh. My father, Eric George TIDMARSH, was born at Little Compton around 1912. One of five children, Dennis, Stanley, Else, and Phillis. At some stage the family moved to Morton-in- Marsh. I believe my Grandfather is commemorated on the war memorial, in the churchyard, W G Tidmarsh. He was killed in action on 28th May 1915 while with the 2nd Buffs. The latter gave 'residence' as 'Little Compton' , and was born at Bourton-on-the-hill.
